Selecting the correct hydraulic fluid is crucial and should be based on the operating temperature relative to the ambient temperature in a closed circuit. Understand the circuit temperature to make an informed decision.
The hydraulic fluid should be selected to ensure that its operating viscosity falls within the optimal range, depicted by the shaded area on the selection diagram. It is advisable to opt for the higher viscosity class. For example, if the ambient temperature is X °C and the operating temperature is 60 °C, choose from viscosity classes VG 46 or VG 68; VG 68 is preferable. Please consider: The case drain temperature, influenced by pressure and speed, is higher than the circuit temperature, and at no point should exceed 115 °C. If maintaining these conditions is challenging due to extreme operational parameters, seek alternatives.
Hydraulic Fluid Selection:
Before embarking on project planning, review our data sheets RE 90220 (mineral oil), RE 90221 (environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids), and RE 90223 (HF hydraulic fluids) for comprehensive guidance on selecting hydraulic fluids and understanding application conditions. Note that the variable pump A4VG is incompatible with HFA, HFB, and HFC. If using HFD or environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids, observe the limitations regarding technical data and seals as detailed in RE 90221 and RE 90223.
