Important insights on selecting the ideal hydraulic fluid:
Selecting the appropriate hydraulic fluid is crucial and requires an understanding of the operating temperature relative to the ambient environment, especially in a closed circuit system where the circuit temperature is pivotal. The

chosen hydraulic fluid should maintain an optimal operating viscosity within the designated temperature range, as indicated by the shaded area in the selection diagram. Opt for the higher viscosity class where applicable. For instance, with an ambient temperature of X °C and an operating temperature of 60 °C, the recommended operating viscosity (within the shaded optimal range) corresponds to VG 46 or VG 68; choose VG 68. Remember, the case drain temperature, influenced by pressure and speed, will always surpass the circuit temperature. Under no circumstances should the system temperature exceed 115 °C. If these conditions are not feasible due to extreme operating parameters, adjustments must be considered.
Hydraulic Fluid Considerations:
Prior to embarking on project planning, consult our comprehensive data sheets: RE 90220 for mineral oil insights, RE 90221 for environmentally friendly hydraulic fluids, and RE 90223 for HF hydraulic fluids to gain a thorough understanding of hydraulic fluid selection and application conditions. Note, the variable pump A4VG is incompatible with HFA, HFB, and HFC fluids. Should you opt for HFD or environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids, it is imperative to adhere to the technical data and seal limitations as outlined in RE 90221 and RE 90223. Crucially, when placing an order, specify the hydraulic fluid being used.
