Essential insights on selecting the right hydraulic fluid:
Choosing the correct hydraulic fluid begins with understanding the operating temperature in relation to the ambient temperature, especially in a closed circuit where circuit temperature plays a key role. The

hydraulic fluid selection should ensure operating viscosity remains within the optimal range - highlighted in the shaded area of our selection diagram. We advocate for selecting the higher viscosity class whenever feasible. For example, with an ambient temperature of X °C resulting in an operating temperature of 60 °C, the optimal operating viscosity range (shaded area) aligns with viscosity classes VG 46 or VG 68; VG 68 is advised. Note that the case drain temperature, influenced by pressure and speed, always surpasses the circuit temperature. System temperatures must not exceed 115 °C. Adjustments are necessary if extreme operating parameters disrupt these conditions.
Hydraulic fluid:
Prior to embarking on project planning, consult our data sheets RE 90220 (mineral oil), RE 90221 (environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids), and RE 90223 (HF hydraulic fluids) for comprehensive details on selecting hydraulic fluids and understanding application conditions. Note that the variable pump A4VG is incompatible with HFA, HFB, and HFC. If utilizing HFD or environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids, adhere to the technical data and seal limitations outlined in RE 90221 and RE 90223. Please specify the hydraulic fluid in use when placing orders.
