Selecting the right hydraulic fluid is crucial and requires an understanding of the operating temperature versus the ambient temperature, particularly in a closed-circuit where the circuit temperature comes into play. The

hydraulic fluid must be chosen to ensure that the operating viscosity, within the operating temperature range, remains in the optimal range-highlighted by the shaded area of the selection diagram. We recommend opting for the higher viscosity class in each scenario. For instance, at an ambient temperature of X °C with an operating temperature of 60 °C, the optimal operating viscosity range (shaded area) corresponds to viscosity classes VG 46 or VG 68; here, VG 68 is preferable. It's important to note that the case drain temperature, influenced by pressure and speed, always exceeds the circuit temperature. At no point should the system temperature exceed 115 °C. If maintaining these conditions is unfeasible due to extreme operating parameters.
Hydraulic fluid:
Before embarking on project planning, thoroughly consult our data sheets RE 90220 (mineral oil), RE 90221 (environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids), and RE 90223 (HF hydraulic fluids) for comprehensive guidance regarding hydraulic fluid selection and application conditions. Note that the variable pump A4VG is not suitable for operation with HFA, HFB, and HFC fluids. If choosing HFD or environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids, adhere to the limitations concerning technical data and seals as outlined in RE 90221 and RE 90223. Please specify the hydraulic fluid used when placing an order.
